TWO WEEKS/TWO WORKS: Jessica Jackson Hutchins January 25 - February 3, 2013
Closing Reception Sunday, February 3, 12-2pm
Jessica Jackson Hutchins combines elements both bruised and beautiful in strangely evocative and robust assemblages. Familiar materials refer to everyday rituals (eating, reading, sex), but abstracted, the banal suggests transcendence. Selected exhibitions include A Terrible Beauty is Born: 11th Lyon Biennial, Lyon, France; 2010, The Whitney Biennial, The Whitney Museum of American Art; Dirt on Delight, ICA Philadelphia and The Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Make it Now, Sculpture Center (2005); and solo exhibitions at the ICA Boston; the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center (2011); Laurel Gitlen, New York; and Timothy Taylor Gallery, London. Hutchins’ work has been reviewed in Artforum, Art in America, Modern Painters, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, and The New York Times, among others. Hutchins lives and works in Berlin.
